Based on a research practice that hybridizes sound and visual matter through an experimental approach, and grounded in the connection between the microscopic and macroscopic worlds, this immersive installation invites reflection on our relationship with matter. A sensory immersive space that allows visitors to discover matter as something alive, sensual, organic, and vibrant — not as a passive subject. Vibrant Matter alludes to the alchemical power of art to shape reality.
On the opening day, a sound performance will take place to activate the piece.
This event is part of the program of the IN-SONORA 14 Festival.
Susana López aka Susan Drone
Sound and visual artist based in Murcia.
A multidisciplinary artist and electroacoustic music composer, she is interested in audiovisual practices that allow her to explore the relationship between light and sound. Since the beginning of her career, she has investigated how these immaterial elements can alter our perception of space and time.
In her sound works, she uses transformed field recordings, humanized synthesizers, and vocal harmonics. Her performances are characterized by abstract and minimalist soundscapes accompanied by her own immersive visuals.
With eight albums released — two of them on the Elevator Bath label in Austin — she has also participated in several international compilations.
